Zachary Lucas is a self-taught fine art photographer born and raised in Santa Monica, California.

His work illuminates the uncomfortable and often intentionally ignored taboos of modern society. Highlighting timeless abstractions of nostalgia, themes have a focus on feeling and implied meaning, aiming to remove the context of time.

Lucas employs the juxtaposition of the beauty and harshness of nature to instigate individual reflection, and through the lens reveal the profound stories hidden within the mundane. His aim is to trigger in viewers visions of their younger selves; not a literal observation, but a visual-based therapy to reflect on a life lived or yet to be lived.

Shooting exclusively in black and white, Lucas removes the potentially distracting elements of color, allowing his viewers to focus solely on a productive discourse associated with a particular image or series.
